  15. baseman whose use of drugs cut short a promising career; of
  16. tuberculosis and other illnesses his family attributed to his
  17. substance-abuse problems; in Los Angeles. In his seven seasons
  18. with the San Diego Padres and Baltimore Orioles, Wiggins batted .259 and stole 242 bases. In 1984 his five stolen bases in a
  19. game tied the modern National League record. Wiggins underwent
  20. drug rehabilitation three times, and was suspended indefinitely
  21. in 1987.
